I heard wonderful news a couple of weeks ago: My friend and colleague Case Scaglione was appointed the music director of the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra in Los Angeles! He will have an interesting three years to come, conducting five big programs a season with this young orchestra.

Just take a look at their previous programs - Korngold, Berlioz, Beethoven, Stravinsky - and you will see it's not like any youth orchestra. Case will have the privilege of conducting serious stuff with them and I am sure it will be a fruitful collaboration for all parties involved.

I had great time last summer with Case at the Hot Springs Music Festival where I got to know him. He is an ambitious and talented guy with more than a pinch of patriotism, and that's why I named him the "Beacon of Light Conductor". He also has the best hands for conducting I have seen on that side of the Great Water! Dudamel beware!
