EDF.jpg Conducting the Orchestre EDF at the Conservatoire du 19e arrondissement

I couldn't update my blog for a week because of a classic hard disk failure (with no back-ups of course!), but now I am briefly in Finland so I can sum up my recent activities in a few words. Here I just had a meeting about an opera production I will conduct in January-February 2009! What exactly, that's a secret - I will announce it later!

While in Paris I observed Sirs John Eliot Gardiner and Colin Davis at work with the Orchestre National, which was very interesting and inspiring. I also played three concerts with the Orchestre EDF - two at the Cité de la Musique, one at the Salle Gaveau where Debussy's Prelude a l'apre-midi d'un faune was first performed more than a hundred years ago. What a great hall to play in, by the way! And last Thursday I also rehearsed Schumann 2nd symphony with the Orchestre EDF for their next season programme (sorry about the grainy photo!).
