The Orchestre EDF cello section: Blanche Marie, Pierre, Renaud, Roland, me,
Hélène and Ladislav after the concert inside the Porcheville power
plant.
My last concert with the Orchestre EDF was very funny: We played inside a huge fuel power plant in Porcheville, some 50 kilometers out of Paris. The setting was really futuristic, and unfortunately the plant could not be shut down completely so there was quite a lot of background noise. It was an interesting experience nevertheless! I remember once earlier having played in such an environment - when I was playing in the Finnish-Estonian Sinfonietta Odysseus eight years ago, we took part to one show in a shipyard (!) and had to play on a hanging platform while it was moving through the hall...
The Orchestre EDF has one more concert to celebrate their 10th anniversary, but unfortunately it overlaps with my work at the Orchestre National de France. I had a great time with them as long as it lasted! Thanks to everyone and especially to my two desk partners Renaud and Hélène - I hope to play again with you some time later. Maybe next autumn?
