I followed the final and semi-final. After this result you have to wonder if the jury really wanted the best conductor to win. It looks very bad for the competition.
Giovanni.
Yes, the results were very surprising for the outsider to understand. As a "veteran" of many competitions I already know that mostly the results are totally unpredictable, and my colleagues acknowledge this as well. Still it does not cease to surprise me, how it is possible that a seasoned professional cannot tell good from bad, natural from unnatural, real from fake. Competitions rarely find the talent these days, and a small consolation is that competitions also rarely make anyone's career any more.
Trying to gain recognition when you are on the way up is always difficult. Given your somewhat pessimistic views about the Pedrotti competition and the fact that the WFIMC site no longer features the current competition info, has the competition been cancelled? If not please can you let me know the contact details.
best wishes to you all for your future careers.
