Benzedrine Penthouse (Tuomas Lehtinen) and Ilkka Haukka (Antti Pakkanen) having a father-and-son moment

Last night we had our long awaited premiere of the opera "Lovers of Mankind" by Tim Page and Sami Klemola. It is an adaptation by librettist Ossi Koskelainen of the Euripides' play Bacchae, and it is set in the near future "Neo-Silicon Valley" in Finland. We had a full house at the premiere, and two next performances are sold out as well! For a completely new work that is really fantastic!

As a work commissioned by and created in cooperation with the Helsinki University of Technology there is naturally a lot of computer generated visual stuff involved, which looked really cool as much I was able to look up from the score where tempos and time signatures are in constant change. A special thanks goes to our orchestra which solved the mathematical puzzles set by the composers (almost) without blinking! Now just five more shows to go!

UPDATE!!! Our premiere was reviewed (in Swedish) in Hufvudstadsbladet!
